Student of the Month

The Colfax Chamber of Commerce is proud to recognize outstanding students within our community.

The Student of the Month program celebrates individuals who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, community involvement, and exemplary character.

Honorees will be featured in local news outlets and social media and become eligible for a scholarship sponsored by the Colfax Chamber of Commerce and local businesses.

Celebrating Our Student of the Month:
Karly Wigen

Karly, daughter of Pete and Brandy Wigen, is co-valedictorian for the Colfax High School Class of 2025 with an impressive 4.0 GPA. Her dedication to excellence extends beyond academics, with involvement in many extracurricular activities, including:

FFA Chapter Vice President
ASB
National Honor Society Officer
History Club Member
Jazz Band & Concert Choir
CHS Volleyball
Basketball Cheer
Golf

In addition to her many activities, Karly has excelled in FFA, competing at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, where her team earned a 3rd place finish in Sales. She also participated in the National Land Evaluation Competition in Oklahoma and was selected as the 2024 Colfax Distinguished Young Woman, competing at the state level in August 2024.

Karly is a Washington Wheat Ambassador and traveled to Olympia this winter to meet with legislators about agricultural issues. She is also a fair ambassador for the Palouse Empire Fair and remains very active in her church, Peace Lutheran.

Next year, Karly plans to attend the University of Hawaii to pursue a degree in family development and behavior studies, with aspirations to continue her education and become an occupational and speech therapist.

Submission Instructions

Please submit completed nomination forms to the Colfax Chamber of Commerce via:

Deadline for Submission: Nominations for the Student of the Month program are due by the last day of the month for consideration for the following month. For example, nominations submitted by January 31st will be considered for February’s Student of the Month.

Please ensure all nominations are submitted on or before the deadline.
