Position Overview
The Colfax Chamber of Commerce is seeking a motivated, community-minded Executive Director to lead daily operations, support local businesses, promote tourism, and help shape the future of Colfax. This role serves as the Chamber’s primary administrator, public-facing representative, and strategic leader, balancing hands-on work with long-term visioning.
The Executive Director plays a key role in strengthening economic vitality, fostering collaboration, and creating meaningful opportunities for businesses, residents, and visitors alike.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Chamber and support the Board of Directors
- Answer and respond to phone calls, emails, website inquiries, and in-person requests
- Serve as a visitor and tourism resource by providing maps, recommendations, referrals, and directions
- Plan, coordinate, and execute community events, programs, mixers, and educational opportunities
- Manage marketing and communications, including social media, email newsletters, website content, and advertising
- Design flyers, posters, and informational materials to promote businesses, events, and initiatives
- Write and manage grants; lead fundraising and sponsorship development efforts
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and economic development partners
- Represent the Chamber through public speaking, meetings, and community outreach
- Provide strategic vision for future events, programs, and initiatives aligned with the Chamber’s mission
- Conduct in-person outreach, including walking throughout the community to meet with business owners and distribute materials
- Assist with event setup and teardown, including lifting and moving items weighing 25 pounds or more on occasion
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines
- Experience with event planning, nonprofit administration, marketing, or community engagement preferred
- Grant writing or fundraising experience preferred
- Comfort working with social media platforms, basic design tools, and standard office software
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust across diverse groups
- Self-directed, adaptable, and comfortable in a highly visible, community-focused role
Important Position Information
- Employment Type: Part-Time
- Hours: Approximately 30 hours per week (average 120 hours per month); hours may vary based on events and seasonal workload
- Compensation: $23–$30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
- Pay Frequency: Paid monthly
- Benefits: This position does not currently include benefits
- Schedule: Flexible, with some evening and weekend hours required
- Work Environment: Combination of office-based, field-based, and remote work
