“Hey everyone, my name is Isabella Huntley and I’m the daughter of Jason and Tara Huntley. First and foremost, I am honored to be recognized as the Colfax Chamber of Commerce Student of the Month and grateful for this opportunity!
I have always been grateful to grow up in a small town and be surrounded by such a supportive community that has allowed me to be involved in so many groups and activities! As a three sport athlete, I have been a member of the Colfax volleyball, basketball, and softball teams and was honored to be voted as a captain for each of the varsity teams during my senior seasons. Aside from sports, I am heavily involved in FFA and currently serving as our chapter’s President. Through FFA, I have been blessed with the opportunity to participate in competitions and events at the district, state, and national levels. Throughout high school, I have also enjoyed leading in other clubs. I am currently the senior class President, Treasurer of the National Honor Society, and President of Colfax’s History Club. Finally, I have also enjoyed being a member of Colfax’s Jazz and concert bands where I play the piano, piccolo, and flute.
Outside of the school, I have participated in the Distinguished Young Women Program where I was honored to receive the title of DYW of Colfax and move on to compete at the state level where I was chosen as the DYW of Washington 1st runner-up! This past winter, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Olympia during congress’s session to serve as a Wheat Ambassador for the Washington Association of Wheat Growers. This experience was incredible to see different sides of agriculture and visit with several different legislators and congressmen!
Finally, as I said before I am incredibly grateful to have grown up in such an amazing community and want to ensure that I can give back to it! I have volunteered at the Colfax cemetery, Colfax food bank, Palouse Empire Fair Foundation, and others throughout high school. Due to my aspirations to enter the medical field, I also recently started volunteering on the weekends at Holy Family Hospital. During the summer, I also work Harvest for my family farm by driving combine and I plan to continue this at least through college!
After graduation, I plan to attend Baylor University on a pre-med track as I start my journey to becoming a neurologist. I can’t wait to apply the skills and lessons learned throughout high school and continue to be involved and lead during college!
Thank you again for this selection as the Student of the Month, and thank you to the community for all of your support throughout the years!”
